Roseville players reach round of 16 in Eddie Herr

   Two seeds from Roseville in the Sacramento area breezed into the round of 16 in the Eddie Herr International Championships in Bradenton, Fla.
   Top-seeded Sam Riffice dismissed Lobo Armando Augusto of Brazil 6-3, 6-1 in the boys 16s, and ninth-seeded Keenan Mayo eliminated Daniil Glinka of Estonia 6-1, 6-3 in the boys 14s. Both matches were played Tuesday.
   Today, Riffice is scheduled to face 10th-seeded Trent Bryde of Suwanee, Ga., and Mayo is set to play his doubles partner, eighth-seeded Roscoe Bellamy of Pacific Palisades in the Los Angeles area.
  Also today, top-seeded CiCi Bellis of Atherton and unseeded Michaela Gordon of Saratoga are scheduled to play their second-round matches the girls18s. Both San Francisco Bay Area residents are 15.
   Top-seeded Bellis and Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic lost in the first round of doubles to Russians Anna Blinkova and Olesya Pervushina 6-4, 4-6 [11-9].
   Gordon also lost her opening doubles match with a Czech against a Russian pair. Gordon and Tereza Kolorova of the Czech Republic fell to Veronica Miroshnichenko and Karine Sarkisova 7-6 (5), 6-3 in a matchup of unseeded teams.
   Top-seeded Vasil Kirkov of Tampa, Fla., and Riffice won their first-round doubles match, as did the second-seeded Bellamy and Mayo.
  The Eddie Herr is one of the top junior tournaments in the world. Past competitors include Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, David Nalbandian, Maria Sharapova, Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic. Herr, the father of international junior tennis, died in 2000 at 93.
